Mr. Phillip Badgett Dockery

Mr. Phillip Badgett Dockery, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at The Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and heart disease. He was born on January 8, 1932 to the late Alvin and Minnie Shinault Dockery. He is survived by his wife, Lorene (Jo) Snow Dockery of the home; four sons, Ronnie Dockery and wife, Geneva of Mount Airy, Kenny Dockery and wife, Teresa of Cameron, Montana, Tim Dockery and wife, Jill of Dobson, Mike Dockery and special friend, Cynthia Eades of Hickory; three granddaughters, Jessica Dockery of Kernersville, Hannah Dockery of Charleston, South Carolina and Tara Dockery of Raleigh. Also surviving are four sisters, Hallie O'Shea, Victoria Hayes and husband Clyde, Fairy Hayes and Elizabeth Helton; one sister-in-law, Betty Dockery; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by two brothers, Gilmer Dockery and Tommy Dockery; a sister-in-law, Juanita Dockery and two brothers-in-law, Cecil Hayes and Ted O'Shea. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Dobson from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013 where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Fairview Baptist Church with burial to follow in Union Cross Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by Chaplain Kevin Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. A special thanks to all of Phil's caregivers.
