Mr. Phillip McLaine Owens

Mr. Phillip McLaine Owens, age 71, of Stuart passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Lewis Gale Hospital in Roanoke. He was born on March 24, 1945 to the late John M. Owens and Mary Esther Hall Owens Cave. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Owens. Phillip had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Slate Mountain Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Chris Owens and Kristin Hylton of Patrick Springs, Mitchell and Beverly Smith of Stuart, Robert Smith of Mt. Airy, NC; five grandchildren, Eamon Owens, Etta Owens, Caleb Smith, Chloe Smith, Carmen Smith; and one sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Eddie McGilton of Charles Town, WV.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastors Chris McMillian and Mitchell Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayo Mountain Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 to 6 at the funeral home.
