Mr. Phillip Gray White

Mr. Phillip Gray White, 73, of Elkin passed away at Forsyth Medical Center on Monday, December 9, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Surry County on November 18, 1940 to the late Abe Phillip and Nannie Brendle White. Mr. White was a retired scheduler for Chatham Manufacturing with 43 years of service. After his retirement, he spent many happy years working on his farm and reaping the harvest he sowed.He was a dedicated member of Fairview Baptist Church and lived his life in service for the Lord. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty two years, Linda Hamlin White, of the home; a daughter and
son-in-law, Vickie and Danny Reece of Dobson, a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Kathy White of Elkin; his beloved grandchildren and spouses, Brian and Cee Jay Reece, Jacob and Brooke White and Jordan and Emily White; a special great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Reece; and a sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Brother Don Ball of Elkin. In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Gordon and Bertie Lou Rose and by three brothers, DeWhitt White, Cecil White and Allen White.Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Fairview Baptist Church by Brother Don Ball and Rev. Dennis Bledsoe with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The committal service will be conducted by the Rev. Tim Burton and the Rev. Gary Byrd. The family will receive friends on Wednesday
from 6 to 8 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Home where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state thirty minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be the Fairview Baptist
