Mr. R. Dean Wood

Mr. R. Dean Wood, age 63 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at the Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville. He was born in Henry County on April 11, 1944 to the late Aaron Zenas Wood and Verna Martin Wood. He was a member of the Mount Hermon Church of the Brethren and retired as an equipment operator for the Virginia Department of Transportation. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Wood is survived by one daughter, Leanne Wood of Martinsville; one son, John Wood of Stuart; three grandchildren, Anthony Waldron, Aaron Wood and Elizabeth Wood; one brother, Donnie Wood of Stuart; and one sister, Joyce Jackson of Martinsville.
Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope Church of the Brethren with Pastor Ricky Randall and Pastor Mike Varner officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of Donnie Wood.
