Mr. Ralph "Kennon" Clark

Mr. Ralph “Kennon” Clark, age 82 of Stuart, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on June 6, 1934 to the late Ralph Garland Clark and Hattie Sue Clark. He graduated from Hardin Reynolds Memorial School in 1954 and attended Patrick Henry Community College and the University of Virginia. He was a charter member of Russell Creek Ruritan Club and was a member of the Stuart Rotary Club. He was instrumental in organizing many for the volunteer fire departments in Patrick County and helped organize the first active “Hot Shot” Firefighter group. He had been a member of New Hope United Methodist Church since 1954. He retired from the Virginia Department of Forestry with 40 years of service with 35 of those years as a Chief Forest Warden. He was a loving husband, daddy, and granddaddy.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Vernon Clark of the home; two daughters, Sandra Clark Sanders and husband, Duane Sloan of Greensboro, North Carolina and Sharon Clark Tatum and husband, Wesley of Stuart; two grandchildren, Cassandra Elizabeth Tatum and Cameron Patrick Tatum and his special caregivers, Lynda White, Mary Lee Hunt, Tisice Blankenship, and Kim Johnson.


Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at New Hope United Methodist Church with Pastors Tammy Franklin and Tommy Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home.
