Mr. Ralph Irving Larsen

Mr. Ralph Irving Larsen, age 76 of Stuart, passed away suddenly Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Pioneer Community Hospital in Stuart. He was born in Whitinsville, Massachusetts on November 9, 1934 to the late Lawrence Galen and Myrtle Magill Larsen. In addition to his parents, Mr. Larsen was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Bengtson Larsen. He was in active duty with the United States Army from 1953 to 1956. He received his pharmaceutical degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, and had been a longtime pharmacist. He was an active member of Stuart United Methodist Church, volunteered at Pioneer Community Hospital, was an enthusiastic traveler, an avid fisherman, and a fantastic father.
Mr. Larsen is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Judith L. and Marshal McCord III of Christiansburg, Karen Leigh and John Alexander IV of Pfafftown, North Carolina and Kristen Marie and Gene Sizemore of Liberty, North Carolina; six grandchildren, David McCord, Kristin McCord, Lacie Conley, Tina Norton, Zach Alexander and Carl Andrew Norton; one great grandchild, Conley Massey; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Kathy Larsen of Idaho and John and Betty Larsen of Iowa.
A memorial service for Mr. Larsen will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Stuart United Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Shepherd officiating. A flag presentation will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time for the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stuart United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O.
