Mr. Ralph Zahn

Ralph A. Zahn of Stuart died at his home July 8, 2015 following a battle with cancer; he was 81 years old. Ralph was born in New Jersey, the son of Gertrude S. Zahn and Fred H. Zahn.

Ralph leaves behind Ginny, his best friend and wife of 61 years, his daughter Marcella Zahn and grandson, Brooks Richardson of Union Hall, Va.

Ralph graduated from Rutgers University as a Nuclear Physicist and followed that career for years. The desire to be with family prompted the couple to purchase Pelican Point Family Campground on Smith Mountain Lake in 1974 and developed it into Pelican Point Yacht Club, which is still owned and operated by the family.

Ralph loved nature, animals, water skiing and sailing. He was an avid snow skier and volunteer for the ski and avalanche patrol in Jackson Hole, Wyoming when the couple lived in Idaho.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Hospice and the Stuart Rescue Squad for their kindness. Donations may be made in memory of Ralph A. Zahn to Clover Cat Rescue or PAWS in Stuart, Va.
