Mr. Raymond Edward Puckett, of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born in Surry County on September 4, 1926 to the late Grover and Bessie Puckett. Mr. Puckett retired from Spencer’s after employment with Proctor-Silex and Life and Casualty Insurance. After retirement, he became an avid golfer at Mt. Airy Country Club. His greatest enjoyment was playing golf with his treasured friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puckett was preceded in death by three sisters, Mae Goins, Irene Sechrist and Lois Griffin; three brothers-in-law, Richard Sapp, Ardell Murphy and Abbey Murphy. Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife of 69 years, Juanita Murphy Puckett; three children, Steve Puckett and wife, Paulette, Melissa Belcher and husband, Bill, Pam Dickenson and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Todd Puckett and wife, Julie, Elizabeth Peele and husband, Brad, Bryan Belcher and wife, Brittany; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 AM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Cana, VA with the Rev. David Sechrist officiating. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home for the wonderful care they gave Mr. Puckett during his illness. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd., Mt. Airy, NC 27017.
