Mr. Reginald Carter Raper, Sr

Mr. Reginald Carter Raper, Sr. of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was 100 years old. He was born on March 7, 1909 in Guildford County, North Carolina to the late John Irvin and Susan "Sudie" Carter Raper. In addition to his parents, Mr. Raper was preceded in death by two sisters, Margarette Raper and Mildred Sewell, and three brothers, Durwood, Johnny and Carlton Raper. He retired from Joseph J. Stone Printing Company and was a member of First Baptist Church of Greensboro. He had been an avid golfer all of his life, playing golf on a weekly basis well into his nineties.
Mr. Raper is survived by his loving wife of seventy-seven years, Margorie Carter Raper of the home; two sons, Reginald Raper, Jr. of Pleasant Garden and Larry Raper of Bradenton, Florida; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Rev. J. C. Raper of Richmond, Virginia and Douglas Raper of Patrick Springs, Virginia.
Funeral services for Mr. Raper will be held Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. J. C. Raper officiating. Burial will be private.
