Mr. Richard Clayton Carlson, age 86 of Stuart, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at the Landmark Center in Stuart. He was born in Minnesota on April 2, 1920 to the late Rudolph W. and Ila Wilcox Carlson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carlson was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Katherine Carlson. He served in the United States Army during World War II, was a graduate of the University of Illinois, and had been manager of Alton Engine and Boilermaker. He was a member of Chalcedon Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Carlson is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Steffler of Mobile, Alabama; two sons, Greg Carlson of Stuart and Patrick Carlson of Olney, Maryland; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday, September 11, 2006 at 3:30 p.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Atlanta, Georgia with Rev. Joe Morecraft, III officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Life Community Fellowship Building Fund, c/o Rev. Jim Churchwell, P.O. Box 927, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
