Mr. Richard Green Harris, age 91 of Bowling Store Lane, Stuart, Va. died Friday at the RJR Patrick County Memorial Hospital. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. Mr. Harris was a sawmiller and a farmer. He was born in Patrick County November 24, 1915 to the late Walter Lee Harris and the late Ada Cockram Harris. He was also preceded in death by a sister Lelia Wade Fain and a son-in-law Bruce Gunter. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Gatha Bowling Harris of the home. Five daughters Thelma Gunter of Stuart, Va., Lucille Stone and husband Bernard of Stuart, Va., Judy Jamison and husband John of Martinsville, Va., Ruby McAlexander and husband Glen of Stuart, Va., and Betty Ellis and husband Jim of Wirtz, Va., one son Richard Maynard Harris and wife Donna of Spotsylvania, Va. 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Harris will be Monday at 2 pm at Sycamore Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Gerald Melton. Burial will be in the Jack's Creek Cemetery with Military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 4-6 pm Sunday at the Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, Va., and at other times at the homeplace at Bowling Store Lane.
