Mr. Richard Lee Hodges

Mr. Richard Lee Hodges, Sr., age 84 of Stuart, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on July 27, 1923 to the late Dillard and Arlon Fain Hodges. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by one son, Richard Lee Hodges, Jr.; four brothers, Gilmer, Manuel and Odell Hodges, and a baby brother; and three sisters, Wilbur Hall, Rachel Hughes and Alma Foley. He retired from United Elastic Corporation with 41 years of service, and after retirement had worked at Hardees. He was a member of Dobyns Primitive Baptist Church and of the Hunting Club at Dobyns, and was an avid rabbit hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife of 61 years, Audrey Hall Hodges of the home; one daughter, Linda Hodges Powell, and husband, Danny R. Powell of Martinsville; one son, Barry Wayne Hodges, and wife, Dana W. Hodges of Collinsville; three granddaughters, Amy Morrison Tilley and husband, Perry K. Tilley, Christy Lee Morrison and Jennifer Suzanne Hodges; one grandson, Christopher Wayne Hodges; one great-granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Tilley; two sisters, Audrey Fain and Opal Williams, both of Stuart; one brother, Clarence Hodges, and wife, Margaret of Greensboro, North Carolina; and several nieces, nephew and cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Hodges will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Jim Churchwell and Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of Richard Hodges, Jr., 115 Friendship Lane in Patrick Springs.
