Mr. Richard Lee King

Mr. Richard Lee King, age 56, of Claudville, Virginia, passed away at his home on Friday, December 1, 2017. Mr. King was born in Surry County to Dorothy Puckett King Bowman and the late Vester Cerbin King. Left to cherish his memory are his fiancée, Brenda Dollyhigh; his children, Jonathan, Joseph, Morgan, and Jordan; step-daughter, Mikki McCraw; granddaughter, Sunshine King; mother and step-father, Dorothy and Aldy Bowman; two brothers and sister-in-law, Barnell King and special friend, Denise Bledsoe, and John and Carol King; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Eddie Holbrook and Donald “Duck” Carter. In addition to his father, Mr. King was preceded in death by one son, Andrew Gray King; and three sisters, Rebecca Lynn King, Dorothy Marie King, and Frances Dianne King Mabe. Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 2pm at the King Family Cemetery with Rev. Arlis Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery. The family would like to say thank you to the staff of Access Home Health from Galax, VA and especially to his special little nurse, Abby Wood for all of the love and care during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Moody Funeral Services, Inc., PO Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030 to assist with family expenses.
