Richard D. Rogers, Jr., 66 of Stuart, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 after a long illness.
He was born in Stuart, Virginia on May 2, 1943, and was the son of the late Richard D. "Dickie" Rogers, Sr. and Lorene R. Rogers of Stuart.
He received his B. S. in civil engineering from the University of Virginia in 1966 and his law degree from the University of Richmond in 1969. He practiced law in both Richmond and Stuart from 1969 to 2001 and taught regulatory law courses at both universities. He also served as general counsel for the Virginia State Corporation Commission for 8 years. After retiring from his law practice, he founded Four Rivers Realty in Stuart.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy L. Rogers of the home, one daughter, Laura Rogers Eaton of Ararat, one son, Richard D. Rogers, III, of Stuart. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Jeffrey Alexander Eaton and Macie Suzanne Rogers.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to local volunteer rescue organizations.
