Mr. Richard "Lee" Shelton

Mr. Richard "Lee" Shelton, age 46 of Stuart, passed away Monday, June 1, 2015 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on August 18, 1968, and was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, R.L. and Vera Shelton and his maternal grandparents, Clay and Dorothy Bateman. He had pastored at Word of Truth Baptist Church in Floyd for four years, Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church in White Sulfur Springs, West Virginia for two and a half years; and has been a supply pastor since 2011. He was employed by Wood's Produce. Mr. Shelton was a man of great faith and had a deep love for all of his family.

Mr. Shelton is survived by his wife, Sherry Ferguson Shelton of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Brittany S. and Steven Thompson of Stuart; one son, Justin Lee Shelton of the home; his parents, Richard Adkins Shelton and Opal Bateman Shelton of Stuart; one brother, Jody Shelton of Stuart; and two nephews, Jonathan Shelton and Matthew Shelton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Mike Vest and Pastor Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, and at other times at the home of his parents.
