Mr. Ricky Edward Martin

Mr. Ricky Edward Martin, age 59 of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Martin was born in Forsyth County on April 30, 1954 to Leonard Berryman Martin and Ruth Irene Walker Martin. He was retired from Norfolk and Southern Railway after thirty four years of service. Mr. Martin was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church and Copeland Masonic Lodge. Mr. Martin will be dearly missed by all his family and many, many friends and neighbors. Surviving are his devoted wife, Myrtle Ann Mayes Martin; a daughter and son-in-law, Tabitha and Chris Mallory; grandchildren, Olivia Kate Mallory and Owen Kerry Mallory; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Allen Draughon of Mt. Airy; Faye Snow of Dobson; Carol and Royce Boger of East Bend; Rachel and Ken Harris of Mt. Airy; Brenda Riddle also of Mt. Airy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Lois Martin of Dobson; Bobby and Viola Martin of Mt. Airy; Barry and Linda Martin of Elkin; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Roger and Nancy Golding of Mt. Airy and Kay Cockerham of Elkin; several nieces and nephews and many special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Ladonia Baptist Church by Rev. Tony Holder and Dr. Bobby Lewis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with masonic rites by Copeland Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy.
