Mr. Robert Lawrence Beckett, age 82 of Stuart, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at his home. He was born on May 7, 1928 in Illinois to the late Robert Howard Beckett and Myrtle Wardlow Beckett. In addition to his parents, Mr. Beckett was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Rosa Mullins Beckett; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Beckett and Jean Ella Beckett; and four brothers, Tom, Jim, Gene and Joe Beckett. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, had been an electrician for International Paper, and was a charter member of the Eagles Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mr. Beckett is survived by seven sons and daughters-in-laws, Robert Beckett, Jr. and Diane of Michigan, Steve and Barbara Beckett, Mike Beckett, Mark Beckett, Jeff Beckett, all of Illinois; James and Cheryl Beckett of California and Kenneth and Angie Beckett of Stuart; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Molly Evans and Mary Rexroad, both of Illinois; and two brothers, Larry Beckett of Illinois and Fred Beckett of Nevada.
Funeral services for Mr. Beckett will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Rev. Jim Churchwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Fain/Handy Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
