Mr. Robert Artis Scott, age 78 of Alton, Virginia, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at his home. He was born in South Boston on December 23, 1937 to the late Artis Taft Scott and Connie Oliver Scott. In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by a grandson, Victor Keith Scott, Jr., and a brother, Alvin Scott. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a very giving, generous man who would help anyone in need. He truly loved his children, and was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife, Mattie Pullins Scott of High Point, North Carolina; four sons and daughters-in-law, Victor Keith Scott and Gaynelle of San Antonio, Texas, Robert Artis Scott, II and Heidi of Florida, New York, Alvin Ray Scott of Mount Vernon, New York, Rodney Scott and Cheryl Simmons of Greensboro, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Joi Hepler, Joshua Scott, Robert Scott, III and Rodney Gene Scott, Jr.; a great-grandson, Anthony Hepler; a sister, Jean Brown of Sumter, South Carolina; a brother, Anthony Scott of Pennsylvania; and a nephew, Willard Bernard Brown of Sumter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Elder G. Joseph Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Pullins Family Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. A wake will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
