Mr. Rocky Lane Atkins

Mr. Rocky Lane Atkins, age 61, of Mt. Airy, NC passed away on Wednesday evening December 7, 2016 at his Home. He was born in Surry County on April 20, 1955 to the late Rudolph Lane Atkins and Eva Mays Atkins.He was a member of Blues Grove Baptist Church, and a retired Construction worker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in by his wife Carolyn Lynn Martin Atkins; son Matthew Lane Atkins. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Freedom Hope and Kerry Horton of Mt. Airy; ; son Mitchell Lane Atkins of Rutherfordton, NC; grandchildren Bailey Hope Atkins, Camden Lane Atkins; step-grandchildren Lucas Casstevens, Joseph Casstevens, Levi Horton; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Bruce Nations of Mt. Airy, brother and sister-in-law Harold Dean and Barbara Atkins of Mt. Airy. A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM December 13, 2016 at Blues Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Sechrist and Rev. Davis Sparks conducting. His cremains will be buried in the church cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter 1053 Old Hwy 601 Mt. Airy, NC. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to his daughter for final expense. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is helping with the cremation of Mr. Atkins.
