Mr. Roger Lee Bedsaul, Sr

Mr. Roger Lee Bedsaul, Sr., age 68, of Mt. Airy, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Baptist Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Bedsaul was born in Grayson County, VA on July 18, 1947 to Jessie Marie Hawks Bedsaul Eaton and the late Otey Lee Bedsaul. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War and received the distinguished Purple Heart Medal. Mr. Bedsaul was retired from Turbo Care after many years of dedicated service. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Hospice Volunteer. Those who will always cherish his memory are his sons and daughters-in-law, Roger Bedsaul, Jr. and wife Heather, and Christopher Bedsaul and wife Maria; and precious grandchildren, Sydney, Abby, Annmarie, and Kristen Bedsaul, his dear mother, Jessie Marie Hawks Bedsaul Eaton, his wonderful caregiver and also the mother of his children Linda Bedsaul, special aunts Pat Collins and Shirley Hawks, uncle Charlie Hawks, several special nieces and nephews and many loving friends. In addition to his father, Mr. Bedsaul was preceded in death by his stepfather, Arthur Eaton and his best friend and uncle, Glenn Collins. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Chris Benfield and the Rev. Charlie Hawks. Burial will follow in the Hawks Family Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Mt. Airy Post 2019 & Pilot Mountain Post 9436. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
