Mr. Roland "Ronnie" Lee Tate, 78 of Mt. Airy passed away Wednesday December 7, 2011 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Tate was born in Wythe County, October 7, 1933 to the late Lee Andrew Burton and Mollie Lee Gwynn Tate. He was a retired Truck Driver and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Burcham Tate of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy Roland Tate and Jeffery Lee and Alice Tate all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Joseph Mathew Crotts and Daniel Lee Tate; a step-grandchild, Tosha Chambers; two great grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Opal Marshall of Wytheville, VA, Bessie and Harding Graybeal of Mt. Airy, Ann Scott of Ararat, NC; brothers and sister-in-law, James Tate of Ararat, NC, Herman and Debbie Tate of Mt. Airy; Kenneth Tate of Elkin, Lincoln Tate of Dublin, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tate was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pamela Tate; brother-in-law, Don Scott; sisters-in-law, Edna and Wanda Tate. Funeral services will be held Saturday December 10, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas Burcham and Rev. Rickey Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017.
