Mr. Ronald Erling Olsen

Mr. Ronald Erling Olsen, 66, of Wilmington, NC passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. NC. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 20, 1946 to the late Erling and Betty Antalovic Olsen. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Olsen was a retired teacher from the New Hanover County School System. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Wilmington and a former member of the St. Stephens Catholic Church in Elkin, NC. He is survived by his wife, Linda Benvenuto Olsen of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Elizabeth Olsen, Shaun and Stephanie Olsen all of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Skye, Nicholas, Meadow, Lockleigh and Breslan all of Wilmington, a brother, Jimmy Olsen of Farmingville, NY. In addition to his parents, Mr. Olsen was preceded in death by a son, Brendan Olsen. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Elkin, NC conducted by Father Lawrence W. Heiney. Burial will follow in Copeland Baptist Church Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 Mt. Airy and Post 9436 Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 7-9 pm Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Wilmington Railroad Museum, 505 Nutt St., Wilmington, NC 28401
