Mr. Ronnie Stone Simpson, age 78, of Kernersville, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington. Mr. Simpson was born in Surry County on August 28, 1939, to James and Annie Tucker Simpson. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was retired from Roadway Trucking. Mr. Simpson was a loving husband of 52 years to his dear wife, Mary Bowman Simpson; a wonderful father to daughters, Dianne Simpson, and Donna Sharpe; a son, Phillip Childress and wife Kimberly. He cherished all six of his grandchildren as well as his eight precious great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother and sister-in-law, Curt and Linda Simpson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Simpson. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home and the service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Jim McCullom. Burial will follow in Doe Run Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Davidson County and the staff of The Hinkle Hospice Home for the exceptional care given to Mr. Simpson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Hinkle Hospice Home at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
