Mr. Ronnie Allen Sparks age 68 of 350 Honey Locust Lane Mt. Airy passed away Tuesday February 2, 2012 at his home after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Surry County on December 7, 1943 to the late Amos and Lucille Hayes Sparks. Mr. Sparks was a lifelong member of Ladonia Baptist Church where he was an active deacon for many years. Additionally, Ronnie was a member of the Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF & AM where he served in various positions over the years. In recent years, he was a member of the Dobson Camp of Gideons International where he enjoyed sharing the good news of Christ's love for all of humanity. Ronnie was a Vietnam War veteran and proudly served in both the US Marine Corp and US Air Force. He retired from R.J. Reynolds and spent his later years enjoying woodworking, gardening, spending time with friends and family, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, Rev. & Mrs. Cecil Hayes; mother & father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Ephraim Isaacs; brothers & sisters-in-law Ray & Bertie Isaacs, Grey & Jan Isaacs and Roberta Isaacs. Mr. Sparks is survived by his wife, Nancy Isaacs Sparks of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law Melanie & C. Darrin Billings and Yvonne and Randy Hunsucker all of Mt. Airy, four grandchildren Kelly Hunsucker, Ashley Hunsucker, Eli Billings and Alisha Billings all of Mt. Airy, one brother and sister-in-law Elmer & Claudie Sparks of Hamburg, AR., one sister Linda Esparza of Mt. Airy, three brothers-in-law Leonard Isaacs of Mt. Airy, John and Becky Isaacs, of Woodstock, GA. and Roger & Delores Isaacs of Kernersville, and one sister-in-law, Irene Isaacs of Archdale as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews across the continent. Funeral services will be held Sunday February 5, 2012 at 2:00 P.M at Ladonia Missionary Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Tony Holder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Masonic Rites conducted by Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF & AM. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where his body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family would like to thank Mountain Valley Hospice for their care and support during Mr. Sparks illness.
