Mr. Ronnie Odell Young

Mr. Ronnie Odell Young, age 88 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on August 13, 1920 to the late Elmer L. and Jettie Robertson Young. In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Hensley Young; one brother, Alver Pershing Young and two infant brothers, Clarence and Cambell Young; two half-sisters, Evelyn Johnson and Sandra Hazelwood; and three half-brothers, Claude, Everette and Lewis Young. He had served in the United State Navy during World War II, and had been a mechanic for Norfolk and Western Railroad.
Mr. Young is survived by one half-sister, Betty Vickers of West Virginia and two half-brothers, Dale Young of Lumberton, North Carolina and Vance Young of Centerville, Virginia.
Funeral services for Mr. Young will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Lonnie Hylton officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrell/Robertson Family Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
