Mr. Roy Lee Thomas

Mr. Roy Lee Thomas, age 73, of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, November 05, 2016, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Thomas was born in Surry County on July 5, 1943 to Virginia Galyean Thomas Marshall and the late Harvey Lee Thomas. He was a loving husband, son, grandfather and friend to so many. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Kay Burris Thomas; his mother, Virginia Marshall; a granddaughter, Keila Butcher; great grandchildren, Keimarii Lee and Cassius Lee; a step daughter, Tammy Adams and husband Danny; a step son, Greg Butcher; step grandchildren, Lindsey Payne, Dalton and Tanner Butcher; sisters and a brother-in-law, Janice and C. W. Newman, Judy Fulda, Glenda Carter and a brother, Arlis Thomas and his faithful companion, Sam. In addition to his father, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Thomas; a brother, Donald Marshall and his step father, Verlon Marshall. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 7, 2016 at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Chris Benfield and Rev. Arlis Thomas. Mr. Thomas will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home.
