Mr. Ruffin Elwin Lynch

Mr. Ruffin Elwin Lynch, age 82 of Meadows of Dan, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at his home. He was born in Patrick County on April 24, 1935 to the late Frank B. Lynch and Cora Brook Boyles Lynch. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by a brother, Wilburn “Bo” Lynch and a nephew, Frank Lynch. He served in the United States Army, had been a member and deacon of Reed Island Springs Baptist Church for more than 55 years. He retired from DuPont in 1992 as a computer operator. Ruffin never met a stranger. His good nature, friendliness, and kindness to all was legendary. His motto was to always “leave ‘em laughing!”

Mr. Lynch is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geralyne Cockram Lynch of the home; two daughters, Jerri Lynch Mongomery and husband, Tony, of Draper, Jeannie Lynch Terry and significant other, Don Hinz of Zephyrhills, Florida; four grandchildren, Patty Lowder, Anthony Terry and wife, Sarah, Andrew Terry and significant other, Paige Bain, and Lucas Terry; seven great-grandchildren, Amber Rippey, Taylor Lowder, Will Lowder, Zachary Terry, Beckham Terry, Alice Terry and Hannah Terry; a sister, Golda Quesinberry of Baltimore, Maryland; two nieces, Brenda Lynch and Lisa Q. Allen; and a nephew, Phillip Quesinberry.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Reed Island Springs Baptist Church with Pastor David Johnson, Rev. Roland McCraw and Rev. Lonnie Hylton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the church, and other times at the home.
