Mr. Russell Herbert Brammer, age 79 of Woolwine, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on August 4, 1928 to the late Nelson I. and Hattie Harris Brammer. He attended Woolwine United Methodist Church, and was retired from the timber industry. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, had been a member of the American Legion Post 105, a charter member of the Woolwine Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Smith River Wildlife Club.
Mr. Brammer is survived by his wife, Frankie Belcher Brammer of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Lee and Vicky Brammer of Woolwine; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Lynn and Tony Edwards of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Kristopher and Ashlee Brammer; two brothers, Robert C. Brammer of Woolwine and Ralph E. Brammer of Collinsville; and one sister, Velda Delois Brammer of Woolwine.
Funeral services for Mr. Brammer will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Woolwine United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in the Woolwine Cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church, and at other times at the homeplace. If desired, memorials may be made to the Smith River Rescue Squad, P.O.
