Mr. Sam Ed East

Mr. Sam Ed East, age 87 of Stuart, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at R. J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital in Stuart. Mr. East was born in Patrick County on March 15, 1920 to the late Henry and Elizabeth Hall East. In addition to his parents, Mr. East was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Vipperman East; two sons, an infant and Sam East, Jr.; five sisters, Nancy Vipperman, Ruth East, Lucille Mitchell, Magdalene McAlexander and Annie Welch; and two brothers, William and Akers East. He was a member of the Patrick Springs Church of God of Prophecy, and had retired from J. P. Stevens Corporation.
Mr. East is survived by two brothers, Fred East of Claudville and Hampton East of High Point, North Carolina; one daughter-in-law, Frances East; two grandsons, Charles East and James East, and wife, Elizabeth and one great-grandson, James Dakota East, all of Stuart; and two sisters, Thelma Holt of Mount Airy, North Carolina and Evelyn Williams of Bristol.
A graveside service for Mr. East will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Hooker Family Cemetery with Pastors Dale Bailey and J. R. Vipperman officiating.
