Mr. Samuel Junior Collins

Mr. Samuel Junior Collins, 76, of Mt. Airy passed away at Genesis Health Care in Sparta Thursday, July 14, 2016. He was born in Surry County on March 3, 1940 to the late Claude and Leva Wolfe Collins. Mr. Collins retired from the City of Mt. Airy after 25 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Imogene McBride Collins of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Angie Collins of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Amanda and Jeremy Sams of Mt. Airy, Dusty Collins and fiancée, Stephanie DeHart of Florence, KY, Christopher Collins and Stephanie Hancock of Lexington, NC; and six great grandchildren who all dearly loved their “Papa Sam”; sisters, Helen Chandler, Barbara Stein, Jennie Reeves and Alice Venable all of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a son, Randy Collins and two brothers, Glenn and Raymond Collins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy McCraw and Rev. Jimmy Coalson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
