Mr. Samuel Wesley Marion, age 89 of Dobson passed away on Saturday evening April 19, 2008 at the Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mt. Airy. He was born in Surry County on October 8, 1918 to the late Samuel Marion and the late Annie Jackson Marion Davis. Sam was a retired Chicken Farmer and was retired from Washington Mills in Dobson. He was a Member of the Rock Hill Baptist Church where he was a past Deacon, Treasurer and loved to sing in the Church Choir. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Ola Bledsoe and Velna "Whitey" Nixon; by six brothers Gaston Marion, Harding Davis, Calvin Davis, Clay Davis, Gray Davis and Darrell Davis. Surviving are his wife of 59 Years Stella Wall Marion of the home; by three sisters Gladys Hawks of Mt. Airy, Lavern Snow and Dorothy Mitchell both of Dobson; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday April 22, 2008 at Rock Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Rev. Lee Johnson will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at Rock Hill Baptist Church from 12:00 Noon until time of the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Billy Pratt 207 Billy Pratt Rd. Siloam, NC 27047
There will be no formal visitation at the Funeral Home. Moody-Davis Funeral Service Inc. in Dobson is serving the Marion Family.
