Mr. Samuel David “Sammy” Martin, age 75 of Stuart, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on March 10, 1941 to the late John D. and Mary Williams Martin. He was a member of Bouldin Memorial Presbyterian Church. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud lifetime member of VFW Post 7800.
Mr. Martin is survived by a son, S. David Martin, Jr. and wife, Donna of Stuart; a daughter, Mary Beth Clement and husband, Stanley of Danville; two grandchildren, Logan Martin and Jacob Martin; a sister, Sandra “Cookie” Mahony and husband, John of Shelton, Connecticut; and best friend, Jack “Red Head” Williams.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Ricky Burnette officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery located at the homeplace. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to VFW Post 7800, P.O.
