Mr. Severin Edward Anderson

Mr. Severin Edward “Ed” Anderson, age 91, of Mt. Airy, passed away Saturday, February 04, 2017, at the Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Anderson was born in Petersham, MA on September 30, 1925 to Severin and Louise Venica Anderson. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII, was a retired Insurance Agent, a member of The American Legion Post #82 of Columbus, OH, a Free Mason in the New England Lodge AF & AM of Columbus as well as a past member of the Lion’s Club. Mr. Anderson was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a loving father and grandfather who leaves behind his sons and a daughter-in-law, Bill Anderson and special friend, Doris Butcher; and Alan and Cathy Anderson; grandchildren, Deanna Berrier and husband Steven, Andrew Anderson, Scott Anderson; great grandchildren, Abby Anderson, Lucas Berrier, Cody Anderson; and Sophia Berrier; a sister, Claire Butler and a very special friend, Amanda Mercer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, June Rummel Anderson; and a grandson, Christopher Anderson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 11, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church by Rev. Griff Gatewood. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moody Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
