Mr. Sidney Mack Marion

Mr. Sidney Mack Marion, 83, formerly of Shoals Township passed away November 8, 2017 in Onslow County, NC. Mr. Marion was born in Surry County, NC, November 3, 1934 the son of the late Sidney Sherman and Nora Hunt Marion. Mr. Marion graduated from Shoals High School, and in 1955 and joined the United States Marine Corps where he served with distinction over 30 years. He earned numerous commendations and was awarded E-9 Master Gunnery Sgt. Rank. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Joan Jackson Marion; one son, Randall Lane Marion of Jacksonville, NC; one daughter-in-law, Pam Marion of Springdale, AR; two granddaughters, Trista and Janine Marion of Springdale, AR; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Violet Marion Simmons of Rural Hall; one brother-in-law, Mickey Jackson of Houston, TX; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 sisters, June Marion Hicks, Gertrude Marion Allen, Roxie Marion Shaffer, and Nina Marion Cook; and four brothers, Charlie D. Marion, H. Dean Marion, Donald Lee Marion and Nathaniel Sherman Marion. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery in Shoals, NC, with Bro. Don Collins officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home; however friends may visit at the home of Joel and Teresa Marion 1807 Shoals Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043 prior to and following the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Mount Airy and Pilot Mountain Memorial Honor Guard. In lieu of flower,s memorials may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 3692 Quaker Church Road, Pinnacle, NC 27043.
