Mr. Stephen Curtis "Steve" Gross

Mr. Stephen Curtis (Steve) Gross age 71 of Mt. Airy, NC, husband of Mrs. Polly Newman Gross, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born August 5, 1943, in Yadkin County to the late Curtis Lee Gross and Lucille Johnson Gross. He retired as a Lt. Col. with the US Air Force, having served for 22 Years. He was retired owner and operator of the Steve Gross State Farm Insurnace Agency. Mr. Gross was a member of the Mt. Airy Rotary Club and was a member and past secretary of Granite Masonic Lodge #322 AF&AM. He was also a member of the Surry Shriners Club and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Polly Newman Gross, of the home, four children, to include, Amy Gross Gurley of Brevard, Dr. Jill Gross of Seattle, WA, Bryan Gurley (Kim) of Pilot Mountain, and Jason Gurley of Brevard, six grandchildren, Dylan Gurley, Julia Gurley, Jacob Gurley, Nicholas Gurley, Casey Honz and Jacob Honz, sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Roy Wayne Stewart of Tupelo, MS and brother, Mark Gross of Sacramento, CA. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Saturday at Moody Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Trinity Episcopal Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Ray Hanna. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Woodlawn, VA. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 472 North Main St., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
