Mr. Sterling Jackson Edwards

Mr. Sterling Jackson Edwards age 68 of Mt. Airy went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 29, 2011 while surrounded by his family at his home. Mr. Edwards was born on April 14, 1943 to the late Jack and Myrtle Mae Edwards Hawks. He was of the Holiness Faith. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife of 40 years, Opal Noah Edwards of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Dale and Tammy Edwards of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren, Dale Edwards and wife, Amanda Edwards, Kim Edwards, Josh Edwards and Noah Dillon Edwards all of Mt. Airy; sisters and a brother-in-law, Colleene Hiatt, Connie Galyean both of Mt. Airy and Maggie and Odell Jones of Cana, VA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Sandra Hawks, Otto and Carlene Hawks, Bobby and Judy Hawks, sisters-in-law, Peggy Edwards, Dorothy Hawks and Aline Duncan all Mt. Airy; brothers-in-law, Arthur Noah and wife, Margie, Ray Noah and Benny Noah all Mt. Airy; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Hawks, Landon Edwards and Ray Hawks. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. James Jones and Rev. Jack Anderson with burial to follow in the Midkiff Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
