Mr. Steven Franklin Collins

Mr. Steven Franklin Collins, 56 of Cana, VA passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. Mr. Collins was born in Surry County, NC on May 11, 1956 to the late Harden Jerry and MaryAnn Collins. He had worked for NC Granite Corporation and was a member of Fellowship Tabernacle Church. Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Lynn Cagle Collins of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Byrd and Ronnie of Westfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy Collins and Ashley of Mt. Airy; Kelly Rippey and fiancée, Tim Snow of Mt. Airy, Sarah Ray and Michael of Jonesville; grandchildren, Jacob and Jared Collins, Shane and Willie Byrd, Cassidy Snow, Destiny, Olivia, and Maggie Ray, and an expectant grandchild, April 2013; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Brown and Jackie of Shoals, Jane Fulk and Leo of King, and Norma Mullins and John of Westfield. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Collins; two sisters, Harriet Collins and Margie Slaydon. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at New Birth Church, formerly called Friendly Tabernacle, 574 Slate Rd., Mt. Airy with the Rev. Donald Bryant and Rev. Michael Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Volunteer Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will accept friends at New Birth Church on Monday, September 24, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
