Mr. Steven Edward Lavender

Mr. Steven Edward Lavender, age 68 of Ridgeway, Virginia passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on February 24, 1948 to the late Robert E. Lee Lavender and Sara Bentley Lavender. He faithfully served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was an honorary member of Trinity Friends Church in Martinsville. He retired from the Newport News Ship Building and Dry Dock after 32 years of service. Steven was a loving husband, good neighbor and friend.

Mr. Lavender is survived by his devoted wife of 31 years, Dolly Sue Lavender of the home; two step-daughters, Jeannette L. Peters and husband, James of Virginia Beach, VA and Denise A. Hutton and husband, Dave of Hampton, VA; five grandchildren, Brian Starling, Nicole Starling, James Peters, Christopher Shaner, and Amanda Shaner; and a step-great granddaughter, Tia Morning.
Funeral services for Mr. Lavender will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart with Pastor Karl Luff officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Patrick Memorial Gardens. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
