Mr. Stevens Tony Turner, age 88 of Stuart, passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at the Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart. He was born in Patrick County on November 24, 1921 to the late James C. and Laura Vaughn Turner. In addition to his parents, Mr. Turner was preceded in death by one brother, James Kermit Turner; two sisters, Vivian Bowling and Lucy Turner; and two grandchildren, Daniel J. Turner and Paul Hall. He was a gifted guitarist, amateur artist and amateur boxer, and had worked for Bassett Chair Company.
Mr. Turner is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Audrea and Paul Hall of Florida, Linda and Leander Reynolds of Spencer, Laura and David Lawson of Martinsville and Toni Hancock of Bassett; two sons, James S. Turner of Bassett and Roger B. Turner of Newport News; sixteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy L. Campbell of Bethesda, Maryland and Neva Cooper of Bassett; and one brother, Juel Turner of Roanoke.
Mr. Turner was an anatomical donor. A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com
