Mr. Talmage Raymond Childress, 73, of Elkin, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, March 8, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Childress was born in Yadkin County on February 15 1940 to the late Jess Alonzo and Martha Jane Edwards Childress. He was retired from Sunbeam Corporation and a member of Charity Hill Baptist Church and attended Butler Creek Church of Love. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty-two years, Attie Hawkins Childress, of the home; four daughters, Ann and husband Ricky Eaton, of East Bend, Rena Luffman of Elkin, Margaret and Husband Toby Groce of State Road, and Mary Childress of Elkin; a son, Junior and wife Diane Childress of Dobson; eight beloved grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Darlene Crouse of Thurmond. In addition to his parents, three sisters and four brothers preceded Mr. Childress in death. Funeral services will be held at Charity Hill Baptist Church on Monday March 11, 2013 by Rev. Ronnie Payne and Rev. Mickey Brooks with burial to follow in Crestwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10343. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:30 until the hour of the service at 2pm. Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Childress family. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of United Hospice of Wilkes for their loving and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to United Hospice of Wilkes, 902 West D Street, Suite B, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
