Mr. Terry Franklin Cook, age 65, of Dobson, gained his angel wings, Sunday, July 3, 2016, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 3, 1950 in Surry County to the late Reely Franklin and Myrtle Riggans Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Riggans Cook, and a brother-in-law, Joseph Gilley. Mr. Cook was employed for 40 years with the United States Postal Service in Dobson .Terry also served in the United States Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era. He was also a 1968 graduate of Surry Central High School. He was a member and a Deacon of Crossroads Baptist Church. He loved going to car shows and tinkering with his ’70 Monte Carlo. He also loved being on the farm with his cattle. Terry always enjoyed spending time with his family and never missed an opportunity to make someone smile. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Wanda Money Cook, of the home; daughter and son in law, Tara and Johnny Hazelwood of Dobson; a son, Bradley Cook of Dobson; and a granddaughter, Jade Hazelwood of Mt. Airy; a special double first cousin and wife, Jap and Camilla Cook, of Dobson; a special brother-in-law and sister-in- law, William and Becky Money of Dobson; two special sisters-in-law, Brenda Money of Dobson and Janet Gilley of Dobson; a special nephew, Mike Lawyer and his wife of Fayetteville, NC; three special nieces, Stephanie Money of Raleigh, NC; Lindsey Money of Wilmington, NC, Julie Gilley and Cody Myers of Hamptonville, NC; a special family friend, Lyndsi Hamlin of Lowgap, NC; and many other special friends he has made. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 6-8 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The Funeral will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Wall, Reverend Alton Bledsoe, and Mr. Tim Caudle officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military graveside rites. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy NC 27030 or to Crossroads Baptist Church, 1035 Crossroad Church Road, Dobson, NC 27017. In reflection of Terry’s life, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith.” II Timothy, 4:7.
