Mr. Thomas "Wade" Collins

Mr. Thomas Wade Collins, 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, December 4, 2015 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Surry County on January 10, 1932 to the late J Van and Edith Parries Collins. He was owner and operator of Wade Collins Upholstery and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Mr. Collins proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Randy and Suzanne Collins, Mark Collins all of Mt. Airy; grandchildren and spouses, Brandon and Whitney Collins, Sarah and Russell Yopp, Kristi Collins; great grandchildren, Natalie Yopp, Brookelynn Yopp, Madyson Collins; sisters and brother-in-law, Judy and Leighton Barton of Sanford, Brenda Collins, Shirley Warren, Marie Westmoreland, Ethel Brannock all of Mt. Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Pat Collins; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Lee Carter Collins. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 7, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Josh Sechrist officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Sunday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. The family would like to give a special thank you to Mr. Collins sitters, Wendy Akers, Tiffany Bledsoe, Christy Gammons, Shannon Ice, Gabrielle Gabby Griffith, Catherine Johnson, Sherry Moore, Rachel Badgett for the love and care given to their father; also Medical Associates of Surry, Piedmont Hematology/Oncology, Northern Hospital of Surry, Forsyth Medical Center, Surry County EMS, and Mountain Valley Hospice for all their services.
