Mr. Thomas "Tom" Irvin

Mr. Thomas Wilson “Tom” Irvin, age 81, of Mt. Airy, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Irvin was born March 18, 1936 in Bluefield, W. VA to the late William and Ona Mae Ratliff Irvin. He was retired from Procter Silex. He served his country in the US Air force for four years. Mr. Irvin was a member of Bannertown Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and on various committees. Surviving are his wife, Velda Ferguson Irvin, daughters and sons-in law, Denise and Bob Gates, Tina and Tommy Williams, and a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Tamitha Irvin, grandchildren Savanah Williams, Danielle Williams, Nellie Williams, Marshall Horseman, Emily Horseman, Mackenzie Gates, Daniel Gates and wife, Samantha, Matthew Gates and wife, Samantha, Rebecca Gates, Cassidy Irvin, Emma Irvin, Ella Irvin and one great grandchild, Holly Gates, a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Kenneth Shumate and a brother and sister in law, Donald and Mary Irvin. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Bannertown Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Dennis Barnette and Rev. Mickey Cogdill. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 9:30 AM Tuesday until the hour of the service at Bannertown Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Bannertown Baptist Church Building Fund, 1835 Westfield Road, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
