Mr. Tony Gray Sawyers

Mr. Tony Gray Sawyers age 56 of 3803 Old Hwy 601, Mt. Airy, NC husband of Mrs. Diane Jessup Sawyers passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Northern Hospital of Surry County. He was born October 30, 1955 in Surry County to Shirley Johnson Sawyers and the late Elbert Sawyers. He was retired from Gates Construction and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Diane J. Sawyers of the home, a daughter, Christy Hernandez of the home, two grandchildren, Vanessa Hernandez, Jase Hernandez of the home, three great grandchildren, Daniel Hernandez, Cathlene Hernandez and Nicholas Hernandez all of Mt. Airy, his mother, Shirley J. Sawyers, King, and two brothers, and a sister-in-law, Robert and Joanne Sawyers, King and James Sawyers, King; family pet, Sophie. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Bryant's Chapel conducted by Rev. Gary Sawyers and Rev. Larry Crouse. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy where his body will remain until the time to be taken to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service.
