Mr. Troy Edgar Newman

Mr. Troy Edgar Newman, age 85 of Mt. Airy passed away at his home Wednesday, November 7, 2012. He was born in Surry County on November 8, 1926 to the late Charles Edgar and Esther Wright Newman. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from McLean Trucking. Mr. Newman was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marguerite and Steve Burcham of Mt. Airy and Ginger and Jimmy Utley of Dobson; three grandchildren, Justin Burcham and wife, Michelle, Meghan Burcham, Garth Utley and wife, Kristin; a great-granddaughter, Alicia Burcham; two sisters, Elsie Simpson of Mt. Airy and Mary Nell King of Charlotte; a brother and sister-in-law, Garnet Newman and wife Norma of Mt. Airy; family friends, Helen Watson and Marilyn Driggers both of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Wood Newman; two sisters, Della Atkinson and Bertie Branch; three brothers, Paul, Roger and Clifford Newman. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy.
