Mr. Vesta Odell Bowman

Mr. Vesta Odell Bowman, age 81 of Meadows of Dan, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Patrick County on December 14, 1924 to the late Conner and Lula Nunn Bowman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Joy Bowman; two brothers, Jim and Johnny Bowman; and three sisters, Ava Slate, Ivory Hensley and Curly Bowman.
Mr. Bowman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eunice Rakes Bowman of the home; five sons, Arnold Dale Bowman of Columbus, Georgia; Vesta Wayne Bowman, and wife, Melissa of Bluefield, West Virginia, Steve Allen Bowman of Penhook, Randy Leo Bowman of Meadows of Dan, and Gary Dean Bowman of Gladstone; two daughters, Kathy Bowman Litwin of Meadows of Dan and Gloria Bowman Pickett, and husband, Randy of Pulaski; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Etta Bowman of Meadows of Dan.
Funeral services for Mr. Bowman will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. Burial will follow in the Barnard-Terry Family Cemetery in Meadows of Dan.
