Mr. Virgil Dixon

Mr. Virgil Dixon, age 86, of Lowgap, NC passed away on Tuesday February 9, 2016 at his home. He was born in Surry Co. on December 10, 1929 to the late John Wesley Dixon and the late Abbie Ray Goodson Dixon. He was a member of Zephyr Missionary Baptist Church and operated a sawmill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Moxley Dixon; two sisters and four brothers. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Vivian and Roger Dale Lowe, of Lowgap; one granddaughter and her husband Chrystal and Robert Mabe, of Lowgap; one great grandson John Robert Mabe. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 12, 2016 in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Roaring Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Craig Key will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. The family would like to give thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and care given to her father. Special thanks to Sylvia Gentry and Carol Casstevens. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane Suite 200, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
