Mr. Virgil Eugene Ramey

Mr. Virgil Eugene Ramey age 79 of 429 Gilmer Miller Road, Lowgap, NC husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Hawks Ramey went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born July 7, 1932 in Surry County to the late Letcher and Stella Doby Ramey. He was a wonderful husband of 56 years, father and grandfather. He was retired from Henredon Furniture. Mr. Ramey was past master of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM and was a member of Winston Salem Scottish Rite Bodies. He was a member of Ladonia Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon for 44 years and was a member of Beulah Ruritan Club. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth H. Ramey of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sheila H. Ramey of Lowgap, Danny and Diane W. Ramey, Lowgap, four grandchildren and three spouses, Zachary and Debbie Ramey, Lowgap, Shannon and Daryl Slate, Mt. Airy, Matthew and Melissa Ramey, Lowgap and Justin Hill, Lowgap, five great-grandchildren, Falisaty Tate, Luke Ramey, Adam Slate, Eli Ramey and Lane Ramey and one expectant great granddaughter, Anna Ramey, brother and two sisters-in-law, Roger and Mary Lynn Ramey, Mt. Airy and Gail Ramey, High Point. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Dean Ramey. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Ladonia Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Sammy Lawson and Rev. Tony Holder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full Masonic Rites being conducted by Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 AF and AM . The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home where his body will remain until carried to church for the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
