Mr. Walter A. "Junior" Arrington, age 84, who was a resident of the Landmark Center in Stuart, passed away Monday, February 26, 2007 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born in Patrick County on June 4, 1922 to the late Walter Arrington and Elva Anderson Arrington. In addition to his parents, Mr. Arrington was preceded in death by one daughter, Carole Leigh Arrington; one sister, Ruth Lawson, and one brother, Claude Arrington. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church, and had served in the United States Army during World War II. He had worked at Stuart Motor Company and retired as a parts manager from Stanley Chevrolet.
Mr. Arrington is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Mitchell Arrington of the home; and three sisters, Mary Sheppard of Ridgeway, Sally Hooker of Claudville and Frankie Tilley of Stuart.
Funeral services for Mr. Arrington will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 2:00pm at Providence United Methodist Church in Patrick Springs with Pastor David Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.
