Mr. Walter Ralph Phillips

Mr. Walter Ralph Phillips, age 81 of Cana, VA passed away at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home on Sunday, November 13, 2011. Mr. Phillips was born in Surry County on October 20, 1930 to the late William Robert and Viola Nancy Jane Callaway Phillips. Mr. Phillips is survived by a daughter, Miranda Phillips of Yucca Valley, CA; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Steve Phillips of Mt. Airy, NC, Robert Lester "Bobby" Phillips of Charleston, SC, and "Ric" Phillips of Claudville, VA; granddaughters, Stephanie Jean Phillips of New York City and Anastasia Jeanette Phillips of Raleigh; a grandson and spouse, Dustin and Treva Kirby of Charleston, SC; a great-granddaughter, Evelyn Virginia Kirby of Charleston; sisters, Yvonne Smith of Mt. Airy and Tina Newman of Chattanooga, TN. In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Louise Gentry Phillips; two sisters, Imogene Marion and Lorene Creed; three brothers, Foley, Alton and Don Phillips. A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church by Rev. Dwight Sechrist.
